rhaco-dactylus:

Rhacodactylus Ciliatus
Crested Gecko , New Caledonian Crested Gecko , Eyelash Gecko

Crested Geckos are neat little critters. They are found in New Caledonia a group of islands in the Philippines. Crestie’s are an arboreal species meaning they like the tree tops rather than the ground. They are very popular in the pet trade. Rather easy to take care of as well. There is a few specialized powdered diets for them on the market (mix with water) as well as live crickets or roaches every now and then for food. For a beginner I recommend using paper towel on the ground rather than substrate due to the potential for impaction. Heat lamps are not necessary unless your house drops below 70 degrees during the day. A colder night is okay at 65, but a warmer day is needed then. Crestie’s also need humidity. A light misting in the morning and a heavy misting in the evening should be good (depending on your climate). Make sure you get a TALL enclosure. Lots of vines, tall sticks or driftwood , hanging or tall plants as well.
